Go. Out. Side. : 8th Street

For my booklet, I decided to center it around 8th Street in the Historic Haymarket in Lincoln, Nebraska. I chose this street because I spend a lot of my time on this street, whether this be to go to a coffee shop, restaurant, or store. This inspired me to research what the buildings used to be used for when they were originally created and how they have grown into the places they are now. I created a formal classical theme to resemble the age of the buildings, used fonts from the buildings, and added historic pictures of what each place looked like when they were originally created. Through many iterations I was able to create a booklet I am proud of and I am glad I got to learn more about 8th Street and the Haymarket overall.

I chose to use University Roman because this is the font the Historic Haymarket uses throughout all of their signage and advertising. I wanted to bring in an aspect of the street in typography, as well as the buildings themselves into my booklet so the readers can see the connection and think if 8th Street by the type, rather than a photograph.
